Welcome to The Brilliant Book Awards

We are passionate about reading, and connecting children to new authors and their books. So in 2024 we launched a reading scheme and award for primary schools to join in with. Running again for the award to be decided in the summer term of 2025, it promises to be another great year of reading.

The 2024 Winner

The winner of the 2024 inaugural Brilliant Book Award was Wild Oak by C.C. Harrington.

Chosen by children from a range of schools across the Guildford area, as their favourite from the shortlist, the winner was announced at the award ceremony held on June 26th.

"We would give it five stars, and really really recommend it!"

About the choices

All of the books we chose are from first time authors of fiction for 7 to 11 year olds. This is to broaden horizons and put a spotlight on authors who are not on your reading lists. Do you have a suggestion for next year's award? Please do get in touch.
